Border Waters Canoe Area

We’d originally planned a trip to Acadia National Park in Maine for the week of July 4th, but COVID caused the park service to close all the campgrounds. Looking for some last minute relief from quarantine, we headed up to the (mostly) solitude of the Border Waters Canoe Area and Voyageur’s National Park in northern Minnesota.

Despite the thick blankets of mosquitos, the BWCA was an amazing place to visit. While we did all of our exploration as day trips, I’m excited to return in the future to do some multi-day expeditions.

Those 60lb kevlar canoes are heavier to portage than they look!

For the latter half of the trip to Voyageur’s we stayed in an “RV Resort” right on Lake Kabetogama.
